Shane Black (who also wrote Lethal Weapon) sets this follow-up Los Angeles crime caper at Christmas as well  The movie opens with thief Robert Downey Jr. robbing a toy store, both for the cash and for the plaything atop his child’s Christmas wish list. (Naturally, he can’t find the toy.)

Soon, he’s whisked into a convoluted adventure, one festooned with holiday decorations, including Michelle Monaghan squeezed into a sexy Santa suit.  Maybe, in these crime films and others L.A. Confidential, for instance, or Black’s The Last Boy Scout), it always feels like Christmas in L.A. because it never feels like Christmas in L.A.
